An Empirical Evaluation of Two College English Textbooks in China Based on the China Standards English Framework

It is generally known that textbook the first and most vital tool for teachers to proceed with successful English language teaching activities. Hence, it indispensable all evaluate books critically choose a suitable textbook. This article aimed explore different features of two famous college textbooks utilized in researcher’s school Wenshan University, Yunnan, China, alignment China Standards framework, whether satisfied local students’ needs proficiency. hoped provide an empirical example evaluation from Chinese context inspire make possible improvements during evaluating selecting To achieve objective, checklist aligned framework questionnaire was collection comparable data. Moreover, content analysis percentage were used perception about textbooks, respectively. Results indicated are not suggested levels. Both levels tend be lower than demanded levels, namely level five six. Students also implied accessible seem help their skills improvement. The recommendation these need adapted modified educational practices suit proficiency
